1955

THE BEGINNING

Fanta orange introduced in Naples, Italy, on April 29, 1955. The Naples bottler was the first to produce and sell the new Fanta Orange using local citrus ingredients.

A DESIGNER BOTTLE

Famous designer Raymond Loewy submitted 25 or 30 designs -- both for the Fanta bottle itself and for the logo. The ringed bottle, bearing a Loewy “twin-peak” logo design on the shoulder, was chosen.

1960

FANTA ARRIVES IN THE U.S.

Fanta line introduced in the United States as the trademark designation for flavored drinks sold by Coca-Cola bottlers.

1969

SO GOOD, IT’S FUN TO BE THIRSTY

By 1969, Fanta orange was the largest selling flavor in the world

1979

FANTA TRAVELS TO RUSSIA

Fanta Orange went on sale in the Soviet Union beginning in 1979

1994

THE FIRST CHARACTER

In the Pacific, an animated character that communicated through a TV screen on his T-shirt helped share the fun of Fanta

2000

FANTA MAKES A SPLASH

A new distinctive plastic (PET) bottle for Fanta is developed, nicknamed the "Splash" bottle. The fun and unusual shape of the Splash bottle represented the lively spirit of Fanta.

2002

WANNA FANTA! DON’T YOU WANNA?

The "Fantanas" -- four attractive women representing different Fanta flavors -- made a splash in a popular ad campaign.
